Getting paid on Purry
Taking the full price through Purry when the buyer meets the cat, processed through your own Stripe account, and what stays in your Stripe Dashboard.
Taking payment through Purry is optional. If you connect your Stripe account, a buyer you approve can pay you the full price by card or Link, Stripe's saved-payment wallet, from their phone when they meet the cat, and every payment keeps a record of the listing and your policy as the buyer agreed to them. If you do not connect, you arrange payment with the buyer directly and can still record it here.
Take no money until the buyer has met the cat in person. You can take payment through Purry at the meeting, or arrange it directly.
Payments through Purry are processed through your own Stripe account: Purry charges no fee and never holds the money, and Stripe charges its own processing fee to your account. Refunds, disputes and payouts are yours, in your Stripe Dashboard.
Payments through Purry are offered where both you and your Stripe account are in a country on Purry's list, the United States and Canada for now. Anywhere else, you can still record a payment you received yourself.
Set it up
On your dashboard, open Getting paid.
- Your ID check first. Connect Stripe shows once your ID check has passed.
- Write your refund policy. Say when you refund a payment and when you do not. Buyers read it and agree to it before they pay you, and the version they agreed to stays with their payment even if you change it later.
- Connect Stripe. Check I agree to the Payments Addendum, then choose Connect my Stripe account to sign in to one you have, or Create a Stripe account to make one. Stripe asks for your details and the bank account your money goes to.
Once Stripe says your account can take payments, the card reads Ready to take payments. Open Stripe Dashboard opens your account at Stripe, and Disconnect stops Purry using it.
Turn on Link in your Stripe Dashboard so buyers can pay with Link.
Asking a buyer to pay
In your conversation with a buyer, Reserve for offers Full payment or No payment through Purry. An Individual seller takes no deposit. Full payment needs the amount, no more than the cat's price. The buyer is asked to pay when they meet the cat, and their pay page tells them to pay only after they have met it in person. They have seven days.
Once Stripe confirms the payment, both of you are told. A payment does not mark the cat Found a home: you do that when it goes home.
One payment request per cat at a time. While one waits, Reserve for shows it with Cancel request, so you can move to another buyer. A request not paid in seven days expires, and you can send it again or cancel it from Getting paid.
Payments you received yourself
For cash or a bank transfer, use Mark paid, in the conversation or on Selling > Reservations, with the amount and an optional note. The buyer is asked to confirm it.
Refunds and disputes
You refund a buyer in your Stripe Dashboard; Purry has no refund button. The payment's record follows what Stripe says: Refund pending while a refund is on its way, then Refunded or Partially refunded. If a refund fails, the record goes back to what it was and we tell you. A refund never relists a cat or ends a reservation: you do that yourself. If you refund a payment, Stripe keeps its processing fee.
If a buyer's bank disputes a payment, the record shows Disputed and we email you. You respond in your Stripe Dashboard, before Stripe's deadline, and we tell you how it closed.
Disconnecting
Disconnect stops Purry using your Stripe account at once. Any payment request still waiting is canceled and its buyer told. Your records stay, for you and your buyers, and a refund or dispute on a past payment still shows on them.
Your records
Getting paid lists every payment with its cat, buyer, amount, status and date, and View the policy agreed to. Buyers see theirs on My payments.
Each payment through Purry has its own page with Download payment record (PDF).
