Privacy Policy

Updated November 1, 2026

This policy explains what Purry (Purry LLC, New Mexico) collects, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

Account: email address, display name, city, state or region and country, an optional photo, login method (email link, Google, or Apple), and a phone number, which we verify before you contact a seller or, as an Individual seller, list a cat. Sellers also provide a business name and location, and a Breeder who adds a cattery registration gives its registry identifiers and the name as it appears on the registry record.

Identity verification: every seller, Breeder or Individual, verifies their identity through Stripe Identity before their listings, profile or site are public. Stripe collects and processes the photo ID document and selfie under its own privacy policy. Purry receives the result and stores: the verification status, the Stripe session id, the verified first and last name, the date of birth, and a one-way hash of the document number and its issuing country. We use the name to confirm it matches the name on the seller's Purry account (Breeders) or the account name and the name on the card that paid the listing fee (Individual sellers, for whom we also keep that cardholder name), and the date of birth and document hash to recognise the same seller on another account, so that their reviews stay with them. Purry never receives or stores the images of your document or your selfie. These are kept apart from your public seller record and are seen only by you and Purry's reviewers.

Phone verification: Every seller, and every buyer before contacting a seller, verifies a mobile number. We send a code by text message through Twilio Verify to confirm it. Twilio generates and checks the code; we store the number, whether it is verified, and how many codes were requested, to limit abuse.

Registration certificate: a Breeder who adds a cattery registration may upload a photo or PDF of their registration certificate or breeder slip with it. It is stored privately, only Purry's reviewers can open it, and it is deleted with the registration or automatically 90 days after we have checked it.

Listings and profiles: everything you choose to post, including photos, cat details, prices and descriptions.

Registration details: the registration details a seller provides to meet their country's law, such as a Japanese seller's animal handling business registration and facility address, are public on their profile, site and listings, because that law requires them to be shown.

Messages and reservations: the content of conversations between buyers and sellers on Purry, and reservation history.

Payments through Purry: if you sell and connect a Stripe account, its identifier and status. For each payment a buyer makes through Purry, the amount, status and dates, the seller's policy as the buyer agreed to it, the go-home date, and the listing's name, description, price and photos as they were when the buyer paid. Card details go to Stripe and never to Purry.

When you sign a sale agreement on Purry, we keep your typed name, the time, your IP address and browser, and the agreement as signed, as a record for you and the seller.

Notes from sellers: once a sale on Purry is confirmed, the seller may record whether they would sell to the buyer again and a short note of up to 500 characters, and the sellers who read a note may message its author about that buyer. We keep the note, who wrote it and when, and those conversations between sellers.

Reviews: we keep a hashed record of the connection used to post a review, to detect fake reviews.

Questionnaire and quiz answers: preferences you give us to match you with cats and breeds, and the buyer questionnaire (household, home, other pets, experience, care plans, intent, and an optional photo of your home) that is shown to the sellers you contact, along with your answers to a seller's own questions. Sellers may use it only to decide on a placement.

Alerts and waitlist: an email address and the breed, listing or role you asked to be notified about.

Technical: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and the approximate location you provide for search. We do not use advertising trackers.

How we use it

To run the platform: show listings, connect buyers and sellers, send the emails and texts you asked for, and enforce our rules. To verify sellers. To improve the product, using aggregate statistics. To comply with law.

Invitations: we email invitations to join Purry as a Founding Breeder only to catteries publicly listed with a cat registry, at the address they list, and Unsubscribe in any invitation stops them for good.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. Aggregate, non-identifying market data (for example, average prices by breed and state) may be published or offered to sellers as a feature.

Who we share it with

Service providers who process data for us: Supabase (database, login and file storage), Cloudflare (hosting), Stripe (payments, and identity verification for every seller through Stripe Identity), Twilio (phone verification), Resend (email), Mapbox (location search). Each is bound to use your data only to provide their service. Stripe Identity processes the ID document and selfie a seller provides under Stripe's own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy); Purry gets back the verification status, the session id, the verified name and date of birth, and the document number, which we hash and do not keep.

Other users: your display name and messages are visible to the person you are messaging. Sellers see your full name, city and state, when you joined, whether your phone is verified, profile and questionnaire of buyers who contact them, and never before. Reviews show your handle and the month, and your city only if your public profile shows your location.

Sellers you contact also see your purchase and return history on Purry (each cat that went home with you through Purry, its seller and the month, and the month any confirmed return came back) and the private notes left by sellers who sold you a cat on Purry. Only those sellers and Purry can read the notes; you cannot, and neither can the public. You can ask Purry to review the notes about you from your Profile, and Purry can remove a note.

Cookies

Purry uses only the cookies needed to keep you logged in and to remember your theme choice. No third-party advertising cookies.

Affiliate links

Some pages on Purry may contain affiliate links. If you buy through one, Purry may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never affects which breeders or cats you see or how they are ranked. Purry may earn a referral fee from partners such as insurance or transport providers linked from the site; no personal data is shared with them unless you click through.

Your rights

You can view and edit your account and listings at any time. You can delete your account yourself, from your profile, or from Settings if you sell; what that removes and what it keeps is below. You can unsubscribe from alerts and the waitlist with the link in any email. You choose which other emails Purry sends you in Settings, or from the links at the end of any such email without signing in; sign-in links, receipts, payment confirmations and changes to our terms, and notices about your account, are always sent.

If you are in California, the EU, the UK or another region with data rights, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, or object to processing, with the privacy request form at the end of this page. We answer within 30 days.

When you delete your account

You can delete your account yourself, from your Profile, or from Settings if you sell. It cannot be undone. A seller can delete their account once their subscription is canceled and none of their listings is live. Settings says so, and links to both.

What is deleted

Your profile, including your city, About you and the photos of your own cats. Your name and your photo. Your phone number. Your questionnaire answers, including your home photo and your answers to sellers' questions. Your saved cats and your places on waitlists. The notes sellers left about you, and the conversations between sellers about you. Your sign-in. If you verified your identity as a seller, the identity check record, including the hashed document number.

What remains, and how it is shown

Your conversations, reservations and reviews remain, shown as "Deleted user" in place of your name. The person you were talking to keeps the conversation, including your messages. The seller's record that a cat was held for you, or went home with you, stays. A review you wrote stays published with "Deleted user" as its author. If you check "Also remove the text of my reviews" when you delete your account, the text of every review you wrote is removed at that moment, and only the star rating, the date and the seller's reply remain.

If you sell on Purry, your seller page comes down with your account, and your name, contact details, logo, banner and gallery are removed. The seller record itself stays, named "Deleted user", so the buyers who dealt with you keep their conversations and reservations. Photos of listed cats stay, because those conversations are about those cats.

Records of subscriptions and listing fees are kept, by Purry and by Stripe, for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

A payment to a seller through Purry stays on its record, for the buyer and the seller, with what was saved when the buyer paid: the seller's policy, the go-home date, the listing's name, description, price and photos, and when the buyer agreed. Deleting either account does not remove it; it is kept under the retention rule below.

Why it remains

A conversation, a reservation or a review is the other member's record as much as yours: what was said and agreed about a cat, and what buyers rely on to choose a seller. Otherwise any seller could remove a bad review by persuading one buyer to close their account. Purry needs these records to look into a report or settle a dispute, and the law requires us to keep some of them, such as payment records.

Anything else

If you would like anything removed that deleting your account does not remove, or a copy of your data, send a privacy request with the form at the end of this page. We answer within 30 days.

Retention

Account data is kept while your account is open and for a limited period after closure. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. That includes a payment to a seller through Purry and what was saved with it: the seller's policy, the go-home date, and the listing's name, description, price and photos as they were when the buyer paid, with when the buyer agreed. These are never changed by a later edit, are not deleted with a listing, and stay when either account is deleted. Every version of a seller's deposit and refund policy is kept with the date it was saved. Verification documents are not stored by Purry, including the ID document and selfie used for identity verification; identifiers such as a registry number, the verification status and session id, the verified name and date of birth, and a hash of the document number are. A registration certificate is deleted with the registration or 90 days after we have checked it.

Children

Purry is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited by role, and passwords are never stored because Purry does not use them. No system is perfectly secure; tell us at purr@purry.app if you believe something is wrong.

Changes

We will post updates here with a new effective date and email you about material changes.
