Copyright

Updated October 7, 2026

Purry respects the rights of photographers, breeders and everyone else who makes the photos and words on the site. Sellers may post only what they own or have the rights to. If something on Purry infringes your copyright, tell us and we will act on it under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Reporting a photo quickly

Every listing photo, cattery site gallery photo and cat photo has a "Report this photo" link. Use it for a photo you own, or one that is not of the seller's cat. A person at Purry looks at every report and can hide the photo while we do. A report through that link is not a formal DMCA notice; for that, follow the steps below.

Sending a takedown notice

Send a written notice to our designated agent (below), by email or by post. Under 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3), it must contain:

1. Your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or a person authorized to act for them. 2. Identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed, or a representative list if there are several. 3. Identification of the material you say infringes, with enough information for us to find it, such as the address of each page or photo on purry.app or a cattery site. 4. Your contact information: name, postal address, telephone number and email address. 5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law. 6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for them.

When we receive a complete notice, we remove or disable access to the material promptly and tell the person who posted it, with a copy of the notice. A notice that misrepresents that material is infringing can make its sender liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. 512(f).

Counter-notice

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to our designated agent. Under 17 U.S.C. 512(g)(3), it must contain:

1. Your physical or electronic signature. 2. Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before it was removed. 3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification. 4. Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district in which Purry may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the notice or their agent.

We send a copy of a complete counter-notice to the person who sent the notice. Unless they tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action to stop the infringement, we restore the material within 10 to 14 business days after we received the counter-notice.

Repeat infringers

Purry closes, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright. An account that is the subject of valid notices on three separate occasions within twelve months is closed, and the seller may not open another. We may close an account sooner where the infringement is plain or deliberate.
